The background stuff…

I am a self-taught painter and a digital artist. My view of the world is through a geometric filter where everything can be represented by a specific shape, made only of a combination of straight lines. My work is characterised by the absence of curved lines or circles which represent for me, my distinct character trait of being straightforward and direct.

Bold blocky uniform colours are another element that features prominently in my works. Black lines are usually used to confine these colours and give them specific and exacting presence within each artwork.

My work goes from completely abstract pieces to more figurative illustration subjects in an eternal battle between my need to push the boundaries of my creative process and a deep-seated rationalism that provides each artwork a structure and precision of elements that ensure an intense attention to detail.

“Giumetric” is another facet of my work, that is characterised by creating a figure from the intersection of straight lines. My exacting creative standards dictate that everything is represented and re-interpreted with this concept in mind. In this process each line has a meaning and a function.

Every piece or image then becomes two dimensional. Lines are added and removed only where necessary. They are adapted and inclined in order to find the right balance and harmony of each work that is reflected by the creation of specific intersection points.

This extends to my range of giumetric portraits that are geometric halves linked to a real image of the sitter using only straight lines.

Giuseppe Migale, whose art pseudonym is Giumetric, comes from a mathematical and scientific background, after getting his degree in electrical engineering, he moved to London where his passion for art deepened.

His education guides him in his approach to his art. The geometrisation of images and subjects allows him to link his engineering studies with his artistic passions. Giuseppe Migale’s artworks begin as digital designs that are then individually drawn on canvas eventually becoming hand-crafted acrylic paintings.

Giuseppe Migale interpretes reality through straight lines, the division of what he sees is “rationalised” in a digital drawing made of shapes of block colour created by intersections of continuous lines that extend beyond the canvas. This process represents how the images he creates seem to be extracted from space in a sort of “bidimensional hologram”.

To process the reality, the feeling and the actions, he has developed a code that allows him to interpret everything through a geometric filter. This transformation makes reality dense and immediate; colours are bold and vibrant, and the effect has a strong visual impact.

There isn’t a specific and defined source of inspiration that can stimulate his creativity, his works are born from observing the everyday life, landscapes, or ideas, and emotions that grab his attention.

His commissioned work is also developed through collaboration with his clients to realise a shared vision.
